Want a stubby antenna, but don’t want to pay $10, $15, or $20 for something you already have and may not fit?
Well here’s how to make your own:
1. Unscrew your antenna by twisting it counterclockwise.
2. Use bolt cutters, wire cutters, or a chainsaw to cut the coil (the twisty thing) right where it meets the solid black base.
3. Now cover the end with a thread protector. I found these at Ace hardware for 19 cents. They come in blue, green, red and black, so pick a color.
4. Push the sucker on there till it goes as far as it can.
5. Screw the whole thing back on, and there you go.
