well i’ve seen that people use k&n’s then cut-out the bottom of the airbox and such…but never saw people run a cone filter off the airbox
so why not use a cone filter?
for all those 05+ corolla’s that are afraid to run an aftermarket intake. now you can keep the stock maf but have the option for that intake sound so many seek.
now this isn’t done…because when im done the filter will be hidden inside the air-box and the plumbing will be 3″ to the tb. (perhaps if someone has s/c intake plumbing for sale) similar to a comptech ice-box.
remove 10mm bolt for vsv.
unplug maf
unclip airbox top
remove air intake tube
now remove 10mm bolts off the airbox bottom after filter is removed.
now when you will look at the air box lid…you will see the carbon filter. cut that bitch out
as you see, theres the duct. now remove the duct and cut it down to size. (its only held in by one clip on top. if your worried about an airleak… just throw some glue or rtv around it)
this is a aem 2.75″ inlet 5″ long filter that was laying around.
here you go… cone filter in stock airbox. this cone filter covers the same area as a stock filter and is perfectly fine for the amount of airflow this motor will ever see.
part # us RU1750
with trimming of the airbox…it was a perfect fit and there is no way for someone to know a cone filter is in the box. that specific filter is also a 20% angle at the inlet for ease of fitment
